My practice teaching experience was one of the great experiences I ever had. I had been applied those things that I have learned during my four years stay in the four corners of the classroom.

However, it was very much different from what I have expected. During my years of study, I’ve been trained to do a demonstration teaching with my classmates and even in the High School students in the Laboratory High School in Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, but then the environment was very much different from the real world of teaching. As a student teacher I should adopt the difference from where I have been and to the new world I had been assigned to for almost two and a half months.

My practice teaching days was not that easy especially when we are tasked to do a lot of paper works that a real teacher is doing such as test papers and different Dep Ed forms. It was our first time to be in the real world of our chosen field that is why I was a bit shocked of all those things that we are about to do. However, I only experience those uncomfortable feeling during those first few days. As time passed by, I was able to adopt the challenges that are being encountered of a student teacher like me with the help and support of my cooperating teacher.

Practice teaching is one of the final requirements of an education student, others may think that it was the end of their struggles to be in their chosen profession. However, it’s not what others think because it was just the beginning of the journey on becoming a great teacher. Practice teaching doesn’t only ends in sleepless nights preparing lesson plans and visual aids. It is not all about imparting knowledge to the students it’s all about molding a student into a whole to be a great citizen someday. It’s all about touching their lives, inspiring them and leading them into the right path that they should be with.

I had been thankful that I was assigned in my alma matter to have my practice teaching. It was a great opportunity that I was able to work with my former teachers and especially to have my former English mentor as my cooperating teacher. After 10 years I was able to be back in my old school as a student teacher. We are given 10 weeks to do our task as a student teacher. At first, it was not easy for me and it doesn’t happened easier as what I had expected. There are times wherein I thought of giving up because of those sleepless nights and lots of paper works but then when I think of my students who are very much willing to learn and waiting for my lessons to be taught to them, I said to myself that I should not give up because these things are just a challenge and if ever I would quit, I will just end my life quitting every time I will encounter hardships in life. Until one day I woke up enjoying making lesson plans and visual aids as well as filling up Dep Ed forms and I really felt like I am a real teacher.

“Experience is the best teacher” and this practice teaching was one of the unforgettable experience that taught me a lot of things. I’ve learned a lot from the teachers not only from my cooperating teacher but the whole faculty as well as they shared to us their experiences on how to deal and handle student in a way that a great teacher should be. These experiences will surely help me on becoming a great teacher someday.
