The best feeling that I had during my off-campus teaching is the very first time my students called me “maam”. Believe it or not, I had butterflies in my stomach the first time I heard it from them. It was like a sweet music to my ears. Yet, I know that in that instance it will bring not only new feeling but also new duties and responsibilities.

In this off-campus teaching, I’ve experienced that the role of a teacher does not only ends in making her/his students learn about your subject. More than an educator, they will see you as a friend, adviser and a role model. For a long time I have prepared myself mastering my subject area for I thought that it would be the most difficult part in my practice teaching. Surprisingly, it was not the hardest part. An hour talking all about science for each three section was a lot easier to get through than earning the trust of my students. No matter how good you are in your craft, if your students do not trust you enough to show their weaknesses to you, learning will be very hard. And that’s when I realized, “make them trust you, then everything will follow.”

This experience also allowed me to expand and concretize my perspective in the teaching profession. Being around with full time teachers made me see how teaching can define you as a person. One of the teachers said that at her first few years in teaching, she find herself asking the questions, “Where did I go wrong? What else can I do?” every time she won’t get the desired response from her students. But as she gets old with the profession, she said that she also got tired asking those questions and then start to accept the fact that she had given it all and nothing more she can do about it. While some of them say that there is no other profession that is more fulfilling than teaching for you’ll have the chance to witness a growth of a child and can amazingly contribute to it. With all of the insights I had gained from the teachers that surround me I can see myself a full time teacher in the near future and I say  that I will build my own perspective of the noble profession- Teaching.

Personal Experience of the Student teacher

Being in a new place with new people, new ways and new environment could be a little exciting and more of a challenging experience. The new things may bring out also new things about you or things that could teach us new lessons in life.

I remember when one of my cooperating teachers said “Just be open-minded to every suggestion and you will be fine”. This one served as a guiding principle to me as I go through my practice teaching. With two amazing cooperating teachers, the whole process for me was a fun learning experience. Hand in hand, they were there to give insights on how to deal with students not just on my everyday classroom instruction but also outside the classroom. They also never fail to share their expertise in the field of teaching science. My ten weeks at Sagrada HS generally run smoothly because of very professional and accommodating mentors.I remember when one of my cooperating teachers said “Just be open-minded to every suggestion and you will be fine”. This one served as a guiding principle

On the other hand, I cannot say that I learned it all the easy way. There are also problems that came along my way. Time had become a real deal during my off-campus teaching. Time management was a waterloo for me. I had a hard time managing my time during a classroom instruction as well as meeting some deadlines with my paper works. Nevertheless, I was really grateful for it did not stay that way. My mentors helped me to manage it little by little and said that nothing can be nailed with constant practice
